C.S.I. Ewart Higher Secondary School witnessed the taking over the office of the new Principal Mrs. Beena Devaprasad in the month of June. Well experienced both in academics and administration, she
has had more than 25 years of experience. Handpicked by God, her mission is to fulfill the will of God. Principal Mrs. Beena Devaprasad was introduced to the school in the morning assembly by our
Diocesan Educational Officer Mr.S.Arulnathan.
The new Correspondent Dr.G.K.Francis took over the office in the month of July. An intellect in the field of education, he is a renowned personality in the C.S.I.Diocese of Madras. He is also the Principal of the AMN Jain College. He was formerly welcomed
by the Principal in the morning assembly. He also addressed the students and teachers.
The C.S.I. mission mini sale was held in the month of July 2019. Rev. Samuel Prabhakaran Presbyter of the C.S.I. Missionary Chapel was the Chief Guest. He shared the word of God on the importance of missions and the need to support the missionaries. He
then blessed and declared the sale open. The mission sale witnessed an enthusiastic participation of students from Class IV to XII. Parents also encouraged their pupils to contribute for the sale. The management
and staff wish to extend its gratitude to all the parents for their support and encouragement.
The first mega Event of the year 2019 was the Annual Sports Meet held in the month of July. It was a show of speed and talent. Dr. Sylendra Babu, I.P.S. (Railways) was the Chief Guest. He hoisted
the flag, took the salute and declared the meet open. His address was more interactive and he acknowledged the excellent performance of the school brass band, march past contingents, cheer girls dance performance.
He also clicked photographs with participants. The meet was a grand and successful show with the presence of other dignitaries like the Diocesan Secretary Rev.Dr.Manuel Titus, Diocesan Educational Officer
Mr.S. Arul Nathan, Finance Officer Mr.Louis Sugumar, Principals and Correspondents of various C.S.I. Diocesan Schools, Retired Staff, Parents, Alumni and well wishers. The Frances Baker House won the 2019
meet’s overall trophy
The Annual Prize day held in the month of August sets the platform to acknowledge and appreciate the school toppers both in Academics and other co-curricular activities. Honourable Minister Thiru.K.Pandiarajan, delivered the Chief Guest address. Revered
Bishop Rt.Rev.Dr. J. George Stephen and Bishop Amma Mrs.Yamuna George Stephen Presided over the function. Trophies and certificates for high achievers were distributed by the distinguished guests. The entertainment
show was based on the theme ‘Disney’. The extravagant stage and the splendid performance by all students from Pre-kg to XII were appreciated and well received.
The Independence Day celebration was held in the presence of Rev. Enose as the Chief Guest. The message was sound and clear to the students to serve the nation with honesty and to love the fellow being which is the need of the hour. A short entertainment
was also organized with students sharing meaningful thoughts both in English and Tamil. The entire programme was organized by the Department of History.
Teachers’ Day celebration was held with much enthusiasm with Dr.Rev.Manuel Titus delivering God’s message, Correspondent Mr.G.K.Francis and the Principal Mrs. Beena Devaprasad wished the teachers
and appreciated both the staff and non teaching staff for the service rendered and gave away the gifts followed by fellowship lunch.
C.S.I. Ewart witnessed its Investiture Ceremony of the school
senate body for the academic year 2020-2021. It was a solemn
occasion with the students taking up their portfolio and took the
pledge to render their service to the Alma Mater.
The Christmas programme of the C.S.I. Ewart Matriculation Higher Secondary
School, Chennai-84 was held on 25 th November, 2019 with pomp and glory. The
Diocesan Educational Officer Mr. S. Arulnathan, Correspondent Mr. G.K.Francis,
Rev. V.S. Vijayakumar and Correspondents and Heads of various diocesan schools
graced the occasion. The programme began with prayer by Rev. V.S.Vijayakumar
followed by the Christmas greetings by the Diocesan Educational Officer Mr. S.
Arulnathan. The Principal Mrs. Beena Devaprasad welcomed the gathering. The
Correspondent Mr. G.K.Francis shared with solemnity, the message of the love of
Jesus Christ for mankind and the purpose of His birth, which was life
transforming. Every programme well portrayed the message of Christmas.
Inter – House Dramatics was held in the month of October. It witnessed the enthusiastic participation of students. Mr.Zubin Vincent – Theatre Actor / Director, Miss. Joanna Paul Singh – Student Actor, Mrs. Cecila Emmet – HOD Department of English, St.George’s Hr.Sec.School were the judges. Alice green House bagged the first prize. Best Actor was awarded to Afreen of class XI of Frances Baker House. It was definitely entertaining and exhibited their theatrical skills.
Exposing their skills and talents, students from Nursery to class III participated in the Inter class competition. Many competitions like action song, storytelling and clay modeling were conducted, people from various professions were invited to be the judges.
To bring about a social awareness among the public, A Dengue Awareness Programme was conducted under the guidance of Revered Bishop and Bishop Amma. A Human Chain was formed along Dr.Alagappa Road by the students and teachers. The message was well received by the public as students distributed pamphlets, shouted slogans and also prepared placards on prevention of Dengue.
Graduation ceremony for Nursery of Class 2020 was held in the month of January. The Correspondent Dr. G. K. Francis was the Chief Guest and also addressed the students with a beautiful story. Rev. Lawrence Jebadas prayed and blessed the students. The young graduates gave a report on all that they have learnt. Mrs. Shanthi Pradeep, Upper Nursery teacher also presented the report. Students from Nursery to class III and students of IV and V entertained the young graduates. Certificates of graduation were distributed by the Correspondent, Principal Mrs. Beena Devaprasad and Rev. Lawrence Jebadas.
To develop and nurture the sense of Patriotism pupils of Class IV to XI took part in the Republic Day celebration. D.E.O. Mr.S. Arulnathan was the Chief Guest. He shared his thoughts on role of being a good citizen and how important it is to value our freedom and democracy. Students of class IX, added more meaning to the celebration with their powerful thoughts on nurturing the freedom and being a responsible citizen especially contribution of women in today’s world. Student of class VIII entertained us with their cultural performance.
To have a firsthand experience, pupils of Nursery are encouraged to participate in Project day which was held in November. The topics were sources and uses of Water, Sense organs, Pet animals, Airport and Nature. It was a display of talent and knowledge developed through various means and skills.
The most solemn occasion of the year – ‘The Valedictory Service for Class XII and X girls and Std.V boys was held in the month of February. Mr. Swithun Manoharan, Sr.Vice President of TAFE was the Chief Guest who addressed the students with a right message at the right time. Students were also felicitated by Correspondent Dr.G.K.Francis. The intercessory prayer for the pupils was led by our Aluminae Mrs.Junitha Davidson. Students farewell for the retiring staff 2019- 2020 was held in the month of February. It was indeed a proud moment for Ewart as they bid farewell to these eminent staff who have contributed their dedicated service to this great institution for 2 and 3 decades. Principal Mrs. Beena Devaprasad welcomed the gathering. Dr.G.K.Francis felicitated and shared his wishes. Rev.Dr.Freedie Baskar, North Area Chairman and Presbyter of C.S.I. St. Paul’s Church prayed and blessed the retiring staff. Students from class IX gave the farewell address and retiring staff shared their response.
The induction ceremony of the Std.XII girls and Std.V boys in the Ewart Alumni Association was held in the month of November. Pupils from the Alumni Association gathered and welcomed the batch of 2020. Retired staff and Principal Mrs. Sheila Lawrence were honoured.
To inculcate the habit of sharing and caring for the needy, young Ewartians are encouraged to celebrate ‘Good Samaritan Day’ which is also the season of Christmas. The Students leaders conducted the assembly and shared the message of love and to help the people in need. Students of Interact club bought some essential items and distributed it to the aged at ‘Anbagam and Puthuyir’.
C.S.I. Ewart Higher Secondary School has always made a mark in the society by producing fine individuals with a holistic approach and Educational standard who in turn have given their applaudable service to a bigger circle
of the society within the country and globally. An institution rooted in Prayer and mission oriented has witnessed its development in all its facets.
